The ESDRC (Education for Sustainable Development Research Center) was founded based at Rikkyo University in March 2007, with the aim of helping to consolidate ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) in our society.
※ESDRC became inoperative as "Open Research Center Project of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology".
We will carry on an operation as "ESD Research Institute" from 2012. (Our website is under construction) |

The ESDRC has four project teams, respectively for two regional-based projects (Asia and the Pacific), for an actor-based project (Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR), and for the overall research project. These projects are conducted by scholars and corporate researchers from various fields.

The ESDRC was chosen as part of the "Open Research Center" Project of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2007, concerning "Developing Research and Educational Programs on ESD". Its research has attracted public interest from home and abroad.
