How to pronounce “diamond”

diamondは日本式ではシラブルは３つです。しかしながら、自然な口調では２つとなるようです。
次のような説明がありました。

The 'a' can be lost in 'diary' too, and perhaps other two-syllable words where the stress is on the first syllable. On the other hand, the 'a' is rarely lost when the stress is elsewhere, as in 'diapositive, diarrhea' etc.
(diaryでもaの発音が失われている。ストレスが第一音節にある語はみんなそうではないか。ストレスが第一音節ではない場合はそういうことはめったに起らない。たとえばdiapositiveやdiarrheaなどの二音節目のaは発音される。)
