しかしこの場合は、乾いた吸湿性のパルプや砂状のものなどで、litter boxとかcatboxあるいはsandboxと呼ばれるネコのトイレに入れるもの。いろいろな種類があるようです。
種類を表す時は、I bought a new litter. (=a new type of litter.)とかI tested five litters.（five kinds/types of litter.）のように数えられます。あるいは、製品であればlitter brandsなどとできます。その辺にもし適当な乾いた土があれば、natural dirtを使う人もいます。
I bought a five-kilogram bag of cat litter for the catbox/sandbox at home. It was a clumping(湿ると、固まる=forming a solid mass) type.
litter boxを置くだけで自然にできる場合もありますが、ネコによってはある程度のしつけ(potty training/toilet training)が必要の場合もあります。
