Full-Color Photochromism of a Fused Dithienylethene Trimer
@@Multicolor photochromism is useful for optoelectronic devices such as
multifrequency optical memories and displays. We designed and synthesized
a fused dithienylethene derivative, which has three dithienylethene units
with different absorption bands in one molecule. Upon irradiation with
appropriate wavelengths of light the color of the solution turns from colorless
to various colors, yellow red and blue. This could be a landmark in the
development of new data recording materials.
