Interpreting of Lectures and Field Trips for Short-Term International Students

January 2020
Location: Ikebukuro Campus and Tokyo Hokubu Post Office

We organized an interpreting project for short-term international students. During the lecture, four students worked together to provide consecutive interpreting. It was also the first time for us to experience a lecture on Japanese literature, but we prepared and worked as a team.

During the field trip, we experienced tour guide interpreting in pairs for each group of students. Although we struggled with using a loudspeaker for the first time, it was a valuable opportunity to experience interpreting while following along behind the speaker who was walking rapidly through the vast site of the post office.

Rikkyo University Website: English Translation Project for RiCoLaS Website Articles

We provided English translation of Rikkyo website articles on events organized by students in the College of Intercultural Communication. Student translators and native checkers consulted with each other to produce the English translation, taking due care of aspects specific to article translation.

College of Intercultural Communication: Subtitle Project for Overseas PR Videos

October 2019

Our task was to add subtitles to the overseas PR videos for the College of Intercultural Communication. We paid special attention to the general principles of subtitling in order to produce a natural and accurate translation under the guidance of specialist teaching staff.

Interpreting of Lectures and Field Trips for Short-Term International Students

July 2019
Location: Ikebukuro Campus and FamilyMart

We conducted an interpreting project for short-term international students. Consecutive interpreting was provided by two interpreters for a lecture that also covered marketing. The lecture was very well-received by the international students, and they actively asked questions. During the field trip to see what they had learned in the lecture with their own eyes, we were in charge of tour guide interpreting, which differed from the previous day's lecture in that it involved a lot of IT-related terminology. The international students listened to our interpretation attentively.
